Disaster risk reduction – early warning, early action
Strengthen climate change resilience of the most vulnerable
European Development Days, Room A5, Älvsjö mässan
While the world is focusing on a global UN climate change agreement, with national climate change policies as the key pillars under this agreement, adaptation to climate change will dominantly take place at the local level and should prioritize the most vulnerable communities and people, women and children. Are their interests and needs reflected in the final rounds of UNFCCC negotiations?
The impact of climate change, in particular the increase of weather related disaster, epidemics and plagues is already being observed and felt. Women and children in the world’s poorest communities are the most vulnerable. It is at their level that action will need to happen to strengthen their resilience against the impacts of climate change.
